Amphibian |
Adults are meat eating and hunt at night using their sharp
sight to track their prey. Aquatic amphibians feed on water snails, insects, and small fish. Non-aquatic amphibians eat insects, slugs, worms, and small mammals such as mice. Caecilians find their prey using chemosensory tentacles. Chemosensory tentacles are used to detect chemical stimuli in another organism. This process requires the senses of taste and smell. The chemicals in the prey's body send off signals to the caecilians which tells it where the prey is at. Caecilians use this process because they burrow under ground most of the time and their eyes are small from being in the dark. They eat lizards, grasshoppers, and crickets. |
